Okay.. this is a known and documented bug with xanim, which
is partly fixed in the beta release (the one that offers sound) :-)
currently, if you want to use the beta release of xanim, you'll
need to run it by editing (or creating) your
~/.mailcap
and adding the following line:
video/*; xanim-BETA %s;
of course, as soon as it is out of beta, this will break, and
you will have to either delete the line, or change it to be just
xanim.
