This directory didn't exist tonight (/mit/sipb/doc is a symlink to
/afs/sipb/project/doc/current, which contained only dvi and ps files).
The techinfo server had relied on it for accessing the files under
Computing/SIPB, as was documented in rjbarbal's mail of 13 August 1993
(I've included a pointer to this in the In-Reply-To line, since I know
there are a few of you who don't have that message handy in your own
mail collection). I made a symlink to /afs/sipb/project/doc/techinfo
just to see if that would fix the problem temporarily, which it did.
If this somehow violates the current organization of project.doc
(which I'd guess is very likely the case), can someone suggest an
alternative place to put it? I think it might have to be in a
filesystem known to hesiod (i.e., telling the techinfo maintainers to
change the reference to /afs/sipb.mit.edu/project/doc/techinfo might
not work) although I'm actually not sure if that's a constraint...
