Athena users can get to such a kermit client, as `wermit' in the sipb
locker or `kermit.new' in the modem locker. (in fact, the one in the
sipb locker should proabbly go away. Hmm...)
When I was a consultant, there was a popular myth that the problem had
something to do with the decstations; the workaround was to do zmodem
transfers to athena-vax.dialup.mit.edu. I've never seen any evidence
supporting this claim, but as a workaround it usually satisfied the
users.
Is anyone equipped to try a monitored transfer, somehow? Another
possibility is that it's a problem with the software in the sipb
locker; it's not the most recent version, since more reason versions
were released as shareware instead of freeware. If someone is
willing, I could try to get a copyof the shareware code for testing;
if it solves the problem maybe a license could be worked out...
