Two problems
1) I'm not on gsipbbin
2) one of the changes I would like to make would be user visible.
I could change it to use a new option, though, and that might be better,
except that I doubt the old option is at all useful. I was mostly asking
    a) if there were any users anyway
    b) if anybody actually realized the chase_links option existed and
believed it was useful in its present form.

a side-note,
Chad proposed that where should change names because it conflicted (arguably)
with the csh builtin. But we had trouble thinking of a good name. Has whence
been used ?

I was going to insert the patch here, but realized I need to check for
infinite symlink lists if its a directory (if its a file it already did
access) so I'll either send it here, or apply it directly when I add that.
