Hi all, I've been working on a new version of xrn and I was wondering
what would be involved in getting it released it in the sipb locker.
I've spoken with marthg, and she refered me here. At the moment it's
still under construction, but it has previously been compiled for all
the platforms you'd need to support, with the possible exception of
linux. Is anyone (jik?) still working on
/afs/sipb/project/sipbsrc/src/xrn.beta[23] ? In the past I've made my
patches to work with .../xrn.beta since that's what seems to be
currently released.
Ah, what does my code do you ask? Well, it implements a collaborative
filtering system. My system is much simpler than the one Paul Resnick
asked ghudson to create a ratings group for, and it takes a slightly
different approach. Users can vote for or against articles and these
votes can be used by other users to sort or filter articles. The
votes are stored on a server process which is running on an lcs
machine so I don't need any server time from sipb. I'd also love to
have comments on the implementation if anyone is interested in giving
them.
Thanks,
Dave Maltz
