   3) It would be useful to have _some_ method of getting messages like
   this to the user without replacing programs with shell scripts.  I'm
   open to suggestions.  Perhaps a "SIPB motd" that we could set up and
   ask new users to read in their .login (gmotd or get_message or
   whatever this week's program is).

That's a great idea.  The problem is getting people to start using it
in the first place.  Any ideas on how to do that (perhaps put a
message about it in the mboggle motd :-)?
