I want to clarify that I appreciate that you are doing work to
maintain programs in the locker. What I'm upset about is that you
cleared space in a way that was suboptimal, and you didn't consult
with the people who could have told you that it was suboptimal.
Since there are ways to clear up space in the locker which do not
involve any degradation of service for any of the programs in the
locker (i.e., deleting unneeded tex/latex files, as I've mentioned), I
do not think you should have cleared up space in a manner which *does*
involve degradation of service.
No, I do not claim the sipb locker as my domain, such that I can
dictate what should or should not be done in it. What I claim is that
the people (ALL of them) who actively maintain the locker should be
consulted before making major changes to it.
I'm not going to be at the meeting tonight, so this is the last I'll
say about this (hence the Subject line). IMHO, you should undo what
you did and clean up space the right way, if you need to clean up
space.
