Why not send the guy email, explaining the situation and asking him
what sort of a donation he would feel is appropriate under the
circumstances. If it's a reasonable figure (and I don't see why
it wouldn't be), we can then handle it as suggested, by bringing it
up at a SIPB meeting or by taking up a collection from interested
users.
