bad reaction to misspelled design

I was using ispell -t on a Latex document. The document contained the word
<disign> misspelled ``design''. Each time I ran the program and it got to
disign it kicked me out to the xterm window where the computer responded to my
input but didn't echo my cursor (or what I typed).
Just thought you might like to know.
