on a decstation 3100 (podge), using whatis in the sipb locker, I get:
athena% whatis man
Segmentation violation
It doesn't dump core, and
athena% echo $MANPATH
/afs/sipb/project/sipb/man:/usr/athena/man:/usr/man:~/man:/afs/athena/contrib/watchmaker/man
Also, the athena whatis works fine.
athena% /usr/athena/bin/whatis man
man (1) - displays manual pages online
man (7) - the man macro package for online reference pages
