I know that. That's why I explicitly mentioned that I was running the
newest version.

Yeah, I eventually concluded that after trying it on other machines. In
case anyone asks, selecting ``redraw'' will clear the extraneous
circles, so as far as xfig goes, it's only a cosmetic nuisance, and not
crippling.
