I am thinking of installing xwebster or webster on my SUN SPARC. IS there
anything about the licensing agreement that will prevent me from doing that?
I was looking under /afs/athena/project/webster and /mit/sipb/src/src/webster
but was unable to specifically find if I am required a licence to operate the
webster program off of Athena. I was able to locate the SUN4 version of the
xwebster executable, but I know that is insufficient to run the Webster
because Webster is not a stand-alone program: it relies on a large number of
dictionary files for reference (it does not use /usr/dict/words,
obviously). If I want to run Webster on a machine outside of Athena, I will
have to copy the SOURCE CODE over, and recompile it. So, can someone tell me
where can I get the SOURCE CODE or assist me on this matter?
I understand that so long as my machine is connected to the internet, I can
re-compile the program such that the webster client connects to the webster
server on portnoy, which SIPB runs. What if I want to run Webster stand-alone?
Your assistance will be highly appreciated. I ready want to get Webster
running on my workstation. Thanks.
