A week or so ago I was having no trouble using rx or rb to upload
files from my Apple to athena, and sx/sb was also working fine for
me. More recently, however, I am having no luck at all with this.
Athena accepts the rx command, and I tell my computer to send away
in xmodem protocol, and I get error after consecutive error in
transmission. occasionally one packet of data will get through,
but then the routine goes back to just trying again and again and
failing every time. Has something been changed recentlyy in the
software? Or is the problem on my end?
I just noticed that no one has answered this question from you yet,
so here's what we know....
The rx, rb and rz programs in the sipb locker haven't changed since
early in September of last year, so the problems you are having cannot
be attributed to changes in our software.
The problems you are having can be blamed either on your set-up,
your modem, or Project Athena's modems. Here's what I mean:
your set-up: Make sure your modem is set at 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
and no parity.
your modem: Your modem make be interacting badly with the modems in
the modem pool. However, since you said that rx has worked
for you in the past (I assume that it has worked for you since
we siwtched to the new dialup system.), it is not likely that
this is the cause.
Project Athena's modems: Some of Athena's modems are configured badly.
If you have trouble downloading and uploading, try logging out
and IMMEDIATELY logging back in, and then try the download or
upload again.
I hope this helps.
