Hi. xrn is a pretty severely outdated newsreader, and I'm surprised it
still works as well as it does. As Usenet has grown, a lot of old
newsreading software has fallen prey to algorithms which don't scale
well enough, or to hardcoded limits.
I would recommend trying Mozilla's news support. You can get to it from
the Window menu, by selecting "Mail & Newsgroups".
groups.google.com is also a nice web interface to Usenet.
Other options which I can't recommend as much include pan (which is an
excellent newsreader, but which isn't installed on Athena), knews (which
is far better than xrn, but is still rather out of date, and is only
installed in the not-well-supported outland locker), Pine (which is
mostly geared towards mail, but can also do news), and gnus (which might
be reasonable if you're familiar with emacs).
