Reviewing the glib memory allocation patches inspired me to make zephyr.c
be more aggressive about reporting what the zephyr library thought went
wrong in error conditions, and tighten up some code. My changes can be
found in https://github.com/kcr/barnowl.git branch zephyr-cleanup, emailed
patches to follow.
