Hi| I hope everyone is enjoying their summers so far.
For those of you who don't know, a little bit of
background might be in order to understand the rest of
this message. My name is Joy Stein. I am a brother
of the Chi Pi chapter of SUNY Fredonia. Next year
will be my last year of college, so it is
the last year for me to undertake a project.
Actually, the project I am now undertaking goes back to last
year. In the Spring 1993 semester, I was our chapter's
Vice-President of Service-elect. Our chapter is a
very small chapter of six brothers, that lost another
person to graduation in May, and had a pledge class of one.
We had a service project scheduled for April, that was
supposed to be a joint project with the the State
University of New York at Buffalo. Anyways,
it was a goof that did not work, due to a VERY
big lack of communication. It was of no consequence.
UB had a successful sectional service project, and
we rescheduled the joint project for October.
Our pledge took up the "April" project that was supposed
to be an October project, but it became a November project
, because it was the only place our College Lodge has available.
Since I was VPS last year, and our chapter did not have any
elections, it appears as if we all kept our "old" positions.
Well, I believe in APO, because I have gotten a lot out of it.
I also wanted to stick by this project, and I am
working on it over the summer, as I go to summer school,
and work full time in Fredonia, NY. This time, however,
I want to do it right, without lack of communicatiion.
Since this is going to be the last major undertaking I
will take on before I graduate, I definitely want
to at least put forth some effort into this project.
We have a specific set of dates. The project will\
be November 18th, 19th, and 20th at Fredonia's College Lodge.
This project is for Sections 88-89, and anyone who wants
to road trip down. What do you guys think of having
a Thanksgiving Dinner, as a social event, as Thanksgiving
is the following Thursday? Also, do I want our school to cater the food,
or to go via private means? Anyone have any ideas for service
projects? What would you guys think of having service projects on the
way up, or having an outdoor and indoor project? Also, what
do you think of having people bring in canned goods, as a side
service project, and taking them to the local soup kitchen?
(It fits in with the spririt of Thanksgiving.) This project,
at this point, is SUPPOSED to be planned by other brothers,
BESIDES ME. If there is anyone in the
NY/PA (or any other neighboring state) that could help me
out, particularly in Buffalo and Rochester, I WOULD REALLY
APPRECIATE THE HELP. I would appreciate any help
I could get at all, including ideas. Also, I need
a relative estimate of how many people to expect
by the end of the summer. Could ome people talk with
their respective chapters, and give me an idea? Thank you
very much in advance for your help. /Ta k Hi///////////////////////////5 /joy
