Hi everyone,
Since I have received so many requests for info on our service disk program, I
thought that I should post this to the list. This is the low down:

We award 4 types/colors of plastic disks which may be purchased from a boy
scout paraphernalia catalog. Along with the disk we give a certificate
commemorating the achievement. Disks are awarded the marking period AFTER they
were earned. We only count hours done on APO sponsored projects towards the
disk (our definition of APO service project is long and useless, so forget it).
More than one disk may be earned at a time, there is no conflict with that.

Red disk: 25 or more hours of service in a given time
Green Disk: 50 or more hours in a given time
Blue disk: 100 + hours cumulative during time in our chapter of APO
Yellow disk: 150 + hours cumulative during time in our chapter of APO

The conflict comes when you have more than one disk, which one do you wear? I
am interested in hearing from the chapter that said that they use different
SHAPED pin backings. This would solve the dilemma.

Our accounting system is a spreadsheet program that the disk committee chair
person has on her computer. At the end of each marking period our sargeant at
arms submits a list of everyone's hours to the disk chair person.

If you have info about the multishaped "disks", please let us all know where
you got them, our chapter would like to use them. If you have questions please
email me privately.

P.S.In our chapter we differentiate between service hours and committee hours,
we do not count committee hours towards the service disk award (though you
could implement a similar award program for committee hours).
