Ryan from the University of Arkansas writes such ego inflating stuff...as
>oh....MR. BUSBY, from Xi Delta, THE SUPER, TREMENDOUS, JUST DAMN HUGE CHAPTER
>AT TEXAS A AND M, I was curious. My friend needs to know the address of one
>of your members. I think his name was Cole Robertson ( not sure about the
>last name ) and Kevin wanted to write him while away at Philmont.
>
>NOW- anyone from Xi Delta (or anyone who just knows this fellow) can give out
>the address, but as Mr. Busby's SUPER HUGE FANTASTIC ANNOUCEMENT PROCLAIMING
>FANTASTIC AND EVER EXPANDING GROWTH at Xi Delta crossed my computer as
>I was closing up for the night, HE is NATTURALLY THE MAN to talk to.
I'll be getting back to Ryan in Private E-Mail on this one as soon as I
consult my membership directory.... However for the rest of it...
>Seriously folks, with a little fun at Mr. Busby's expense, growth is great.
>Hopefully there could maybe be at least one of you come up for the
>Tri-Sectional in the fall. Heck, even you, Mr. Busby, if your schedule allowed.
>Even at our miniscule, only one chapter in the section, chapter, your name is
>a vertible fixture in some circles.
I must confess that over the last 10 months since I joined the list after
learning about it's existance at a CPW I have achieved quite a level of
notoriety. (the Nationals 1994 Dalls incident comes to mind and the
comments from my brothers at the Convention in Boston that they ran into
brothers in Harvard Yard from Duke and then from California asking about me)
I must also confess that it was 10 months ago that I met several of your
Arkansas brothers and then saw them again in Boston. I'd like to make a few
of these events, like different sectionals and regionals, but since I am
still meaningfully unemployed and graduation is a scant 12 days away I can't
make any reservations yet. If you send registration info to
APO
PO Box 7454
College Station, TX 77844
you might get a positive response.
I also must say that at our banquet this weekend I was voted most likely to
become APO's National President by a landslide. So tell Gerry to watch-out.
I hope that after I graduate, those few brothers that I have introduced to
this wonderful medium will continue to tell about the greatness and the
shortfalls of our chapter. I think we have a lot to teach other chapters
about when it comes to organization and a well structured service program,
but we can learn much about the _fraternity_ side of APO and the National
organization from everybody else.
The only sad piece of news I got from the banquet was from a pledge brother and
past president friend of mine. She said that because of my leaving the
chapter will probabaly lose some ground on the national fraternity front (ie
attending CPW's and Sectionals and Regionals and Nationals) in favor of
expanding our service program. Alas, I fear service to the fraternity
(through attending conferences) will get a smaller piece of the service pie.
Even this semester we had quite a bit of "fighting" because the Exec
committee had decided not to schedule a project the weeknd of our sectional
conference to promote attendance by our membership. After the registration
"deadline" our line on the project caved and a project was half-way thrown
together so "Pledges would have an opportunity to get some of their required
hours." Sadly to say that project had more participants than our delegation
to the sectional conference.
I don't think it will be as bad as she thinks because I think I have
instilled the value of these events into some of our newer brothers and I
think they will keep our chapter in touch w/ the outside world.
Well now that I've turned this into a woeful remembrance post and a what are
they going to do w/o me post I'll go have some lunch and remind myself that
things will be just fine w/o me. I sound like a parent...ugh!
