The mascot of Delta Pi chapter is a Cow named Chip. She's been around for
three years. I do not know the whole story but Cow Chip was a stuffed cow
donated for one of our service projects: Trinity Night Out (where Delta Pi
provides free baby sitting to university faculty and staff about once a
month).
This semester our Fellowship VP came back from Christmas Break reporting that
Cow Chip had taken a cruise and found herself pregnant. The saga included
morning sickness, appointing a member to be her La Maas (sp) coach, suggesting
that another member was the father, and all the gossip you could imagine from
such a scandal. At the last meeting of the semester, Cow Chip delivered two
calves: a female named Patty and a male who's name escapes me.
Cow Chip is featured on this semester's t-shirt and our weekly chapter
newsletter is The Cow Chip.
On another note:
Ricky Vega (current Section 43 Chairman, past President of Delta Pi chapter,
and an alumnus of Trinity University), recently acquired a framed copy of
the original charter of Delta Pi from the National Office. (Apparently, the
National Office keeps these on file and will make a copy upon request.
Contact the National Office for the proper rules and procedures.) The
Charter, dated February 8, 1947, is now on permanent display at Maddux
Library on the Trinity campus
