There are two numbers that I have seen refered to as "Chapter Number"

The first is your chapter membership number. This is the first number on
the botom line of your membership card and twlls you what number initiated
into Alpha Beta Beta Chapter you are. Since I am the 890th person inducted
into Kappa Chapter I have chapter number 890 (for Kappa, there is also
a person with chapter number 890 for each chapter that has inducted more
than 890 people. This includes transfers, advisors and I believe honorary
brothers as well.

The other number that I have seen refered to as a chapter number is actually
for your chapter. It indicates the order that your chapter came into the
fraternity. I am an Alum of Kappa Chapter which is number 10. Saint
Bonaventure University is number 626. (Alpha Beta Beta). Its easier for the
national office to handle its information by this number than by greek letters.

One of these two descriptions should be enough for you to figure it out..
