Brothers, pledges, and all other interested readers,
I recently sent a message to the list talking about service as a focus.
Because of the message I received a lot of mail
about my statements.
By the response I got, I can only assume that my comments were
misinterpreted.
What I was trying to say (based on MY INTERPRETATION of Jeff's
comments) was that I don't think people should join A-Phi-O for the
fellowship aspect only. A-Phi-O is a service fraternity. Our principles
all work together to help us help others as well as each other. The friends
I have made through Alpha Phi Omega are ones that will be with me the rest of
my life. None of what I have gone through would have been possible had it not
been for the people I know through APO.
PLEASE don't interpret my statements as meaning that we should only do service
and that fellowship is not important. That is NOT what I was saying at all.
Each of our cardinal principles are important but the thing that sets us apart
from Social fraternities is our focus on service.
Yours equally,
In Leadership,
Friendship,
and Service,
Robert Goldberg
