Details for the Keep America Beautiful event in Gulfport, MS are still=20
being finalized right now, but here are some details so far=85.

Event date: Tuesday, March 11^th , 2008

Time: 8:00 AM =96 4:00 PM (or until all activities are complete)

Location: Gulfport/Long Beach, Mississippi

The basic idea of the event is for Hurricane Katrina relief =96 Keep=20
America Beautiful has chosen 4 sites in need of clean up & restoration.=20
Site 1 is the entrance to a public boat harbor, Sites 2 & 3 are public=20
parks, and Site 4 is a school playground. Details on each below!

* *

*Site 1: Cat Island Marina =93Oasis=94.* Plans are to fix up a broken dow=
n=20
area by entrance to the marina. Currently it is full of garbage &=20
debris, uneven land, and in need of landscaping. The plan is to remove=20
garbage/debris, landscape, plant palm trees & other plants, etc.

*Site 2: War Memorial Park.* Currently only one half of the park is=20
finished with a playground, benches, & gazebos. The south half of the=20
park will be landscaped with trees, bushes, plants, more gazebos, picnic=20
tables & benches to make a peaceful =93reading garden=94. Volunteers will=
=20
help to clean, build these gazebo structures, & with planting.

* *

*Site 3: South Forest Park.* Similar to War Memorial Park, only half of=20
this park is in good condition. Tree stumps & dead trees will be=20
removed/cut down to allow for more open space & playing area. The area=20
will be landscaped with new trees, bushes, & plants, and a gazebo will=20
be put in place for a second reading garden. New picnic tables & benches=20
will also be put into place.

*Site 4: Reeves Elementary School.* This school just received a grant to=20
put a huge new playground structure in, however everything else is in=20
need of fixing up. They have a lot of unused space =96 to beautify the=20
school grounds, new trees, bushes, plants, & possibly an herb garden=20
will be landscaped. Benches will be placed in sections for designated=20
reading areas. Also, the blacktop of the school basketball court will be=20
painted with educational designs (US map, school mascot symbols, etc.).=20
Garbage cans will also be painted with bright designs and placed around=20
the school property.

The event starts with a kick off at 8:00 AM at the Cat Island Marina=20
Oasis with speeches, music, celebrity & political appearances. At the=20
end of the kick off rally, volunteers will be sent to designated sites=20
for the day. Snacks, refreshments, & lunch will be provided at all sites.
