Subject: [MO_APO] Alumni building for Mu Omicron
To: MO_APO@yahoogroups.com
Dear Brothers,
I am sending this e-mail for the purpose of starting to rebuild the
alumni relations of the Mu Omicron chapter, as well as make sure
that people are getting the MO_APO e-mails at Clarkson.
So first things first. My name is Trent McCarthy and I am the
current acting president of the Mu Omicron (Clarkson) chapter of
Alpha Phi Omega. S&M line with the anime branch and the cartoon
subsection. My nickname is "Bamm - Bamm", from the flintstones
cartoon, and I have a giant pink schmoo named Pebbles. I pledged in
the Spring of '04 and have been an active brother ever since. My
other claims to fame have been being a rock bearer, Schmoo holder,
Holder of Jess's Mint Recipe, and my qoute: "You don't need a girl
to get a little."
An important project that I would like to undertake and continually
have built on each year, is reestablishing links with our alums.
Many have moved out of the area or been cut off from their chapter
due to lack of communication or distance. With the wonderful
intrenet and this yahoo group hopefully we can avoid this problem
again.
In order to create an alumni database we are working with the
Clarkson Alumni Association here on campus to find names, addresses,
and other contact information of people they have identified as MO
alums. However, this information may not be complete and probably
won't cover the early years of the chapter. As we are also trying to
reconstruct the family tree we will be looking for information that
the alumni office would not have such as: Nick names, numbers, bigs,
littles, funny stories, good memories, etc.
This is a request to the MO alums to respond to this e-mail with
their contact information and anything else they feel will be
beneficial to the chapter from the memories to advice for the
future. We will then use this information to create our database so
that we can keep everyone informed of upcoming events. Also, we will
be coming up on the 50th for the MO chapter in a year or two. With
our alumni helping out we can spread the word and celebrate with
anyone that is able to attend this upcoming event.
While we have recieved some communication from past brothers we
have dropped the ball on continuing to include this very important
part of our chapter. As I will become an alum in a semester, this is
more of a pressing issue to me and I would like to get the ball
rolling on this project to benefit myself and the future graduating
alumni of our chapter. If you happen to know of any alumni please
forward them this e-mail or contact them on our behalf if they are
not on the MO_APO mailing list. The more brothers we can contact the
greater our chances of making this project work.
In Leadership, Friendship, and Service,
Trent McCarthy
President, MO chapter
P.S. - The current pledge class is able to get these e-mails. If you
have stories or information that they are not supposed to have until
the initiation ceremony we can provide brothers to contact. My
personal e-mail is mccarttd@clarkson.edu and you can send any such
material to me if you wish.
