I just donated blood today and (at my local red cross chapter) There is an
easy way to give back to the local chapter.
They have this "Awards" program for donors where you can earn points for
donating, tracked online

While you can redeem these points for the gifts they have an option do
donate the points back to the local chapter.
And acquiring 20,000 points, that local chapter will receive a $100
donation.
So if you can't financially afford to make a donation. This is a free
alternative that will help to get the local chapters money after you donate
blood.

I work for American Red Cross Disaster Action Team in central maryland and
Washigton DC. I have worked on national and local disasters for close to
six years as a volunteer. I am asking that you give to your local red cross
as well as to the national efforts if you can. During many of these
national disasters so many people who give to their locals decide to change
and give to national disaster relief efforts. During 9-11 almost 2 million
dollars went unspent because there was to much money, but the local chapters
were closing down because there was no money coming in. The money donated
to the different parts of the red cross is allocated very strictly. If you
donate to national efforts it must stay in national relief funds. So many
people are giving to the national funds that I ask that you give to the
local chapters if you can. If you have any questions please call me and I
will be more then willing to work with you on this. I am hoping to be going
to Mississippi !
in the
next week or two as well, If i can take off of work. But please take the
local chapters into consideration.
