Well at least with the DSKs, other than the National DSKs which have the
diamonds, most don't look that valuable to those outside the fraternity.
Unless it gets bid up by brothers bidding against each other, they generally
don't go for that much. If I remember correctly, the last one I saw go on
Ebay, the person thought it was an Alpha Phi Omega watch fob.
But for all of these things, it's annoyance. None of these people are trying
to harm Alpha Phi Omega. And I'm not sure they *are* harming Alpha Phi
Omega. As a fraternity, we have historically taken a fairly lax view on
control of our letters compared to some GLOs.
I can't imagine Alpha Phi Omega having each new brother sign a document at
initiation stating that the pin he has been given remains property of the
Fraternity and must be returned to the Fraternity include that they can not
be buried with it (But Alpha Kappa Alpha does)
We don't limit the use of the Greek Letters Alpha Phi Omega to only 6
specific uses, not allowing them to be used on t-shirts or sweatshirts (But
Phi Gamma Delta does[they use Fiji])
