Hey Brothers,
There was a story on my local news about the critical shortage of blood and
that some places are actually RATIONING Blood supplies...

Red Cross tells hospitals to ration blood supplies
(Albany - AP) - Some hospitals are postponing unnecessary surgeries amid the
annual summer slowdown in blood donations.
Regional supplies of blood are low and the Red Cross has told hospitals in
upstate New York and Pennsylvania to conserve their supplies of Type O
blood, the universal donor type.
Glens Falls Hospital, 45 miles north of Albany, is postponing unnecessary
surgery in order to ensure that blood is available for emergencies. The
hospital postponed at least two hip replacement surgeries on Friday, with
the supply of Type O blood lower than normal.
Doctor George Wilner of Albany Medical Center's blood bank says it's the
worst blood shortage in recent memory.
The supply of donated blood drops each summer. But this year, the shortage
appears to be more acute, and the demand was higher in July.
******************************
A press release by the American Red Cross echo's these sentiments and that
the problem is nation wide....

So If you have The ability to donate.... I would ask you to consider giving
the gift of life... It only takes about an hour of your time.. And this
would definatly fall into one of our 4 fields of service being "Service to
the nation as a participating citizen"
I personally have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at my local blood
donation center...
So lets try to help them out
Thanks!
LFS
Mike
