"To me its like changing the United States National Anthem. Yes, we =
have the power to make changes, but lets not change it so much that we =
loose site of our roots."
Very nice statement!
Dues!
Now that's something. How can we have one of the less expensive =
organizations to join, have tons of paper work to get done, do =
everything else and forget to pay national dues?
If it is the students that don't have the money, wouldn't it be service =
to the members to do a fundrasier to pay for it? Do sectionals suggest =
and work with chapters in their fund raising efforts. If their is one =
thing that can help chapters, it is the passing of fundraising ideas =
through the sectional official.

Though I agree with most of your comments there is one that I must =
disagree with.
Brother Sharon says:
Actually, one of the main reasons that women like myself are OK with =
being
calling "brothers" while working to get the Toast Song changed is that =
we
acknowledge that there is no single gender-neutral word in the English
language that would convey the relationship that we in Alpha Phi Omega
share, so "brother" is the next-best term. The same cannot be said =
about
the use of "Men Of" in the Toast Song. There are multiple phrases that
could be used to replace "Men Of" without diluting the meaning of the =
Toast
Song one little bit.
Brother Kami responds:
Men and man have been used in large quantity to signify all of the =
human race. ie. mankind, the age of man, etc. So the use of "men of" =
actually includes all of us women. I personally don't think that we =
need to change the Toast Song. To me its like changing the United =
States National Anthem. Yes, we have the power to make changes, but =
lets not change it so much that we loose site of our roots.
I also would like to say that there are much more important things out =
there. I agree with Mark and Matt. The lack of reporting and dues =
being paid makes things really hard on the national office, your region =
staff, and your section staff. They'd love to hear your suggestions on =
making these situations better.
