In what's turning out to be a really long night -
oops, it's morning now - We have now ACHIEVEd the
LAUNCH (no pun intended) of the *all new*
www.leadership.apo.org, and it's ready to begin
SERVEing (again, no pun intended) the fraternity! So
power up Internet EXPLOREr (again, no pun here) and
head on over to DISCOVER (gotta love this) the new
site!
And with a new site, comes a new course! We have now
rolled out the newest course in the APO LEADS program,
DISCOVER. So this is now an option on the Request
Form. So I'm sure there's a few chapters out there
that want to request this one,... ;-)
The APO LEADS calendar of events can also be viewed
online, in a much easier to read format than the old
spreadsheet.
This site is just a wee bit more advanced than the
previous site (probably a bit more advanced than even
apo.org itself). Underneath the hood, it is powered by
a MySQL database, which stores all of the calendar and
presenter information. The request list also feeds
directly into the calendar, so there's no need to
re-type information. Casual observers might also
notice the lack of .html files in the site. The entire
site is driven by PHP technology (which stands for,
"hypertext preprocessor", in case anyone is
interested).
I'll probably be making a few additional improvements
to the site over the course of the next few weeks
and/or months or so. But generally, the core of the
site is ready to go.
Thanks to the APO LEADS Coordinators, as well as Chris
Rock, Lisa Covi, Howie Barnes, as well as other
members of the National Media & Technology Committee,
for site testing and input. I think we've got most of
the bugs worked out,... if anything does pop out that
doesn't work quite right or something, or you have a
suggestion for improvement, send an email to
webmaster@leadership.apo.org and I'll see what I can
do.
Enjoy surfing the new site! And don't forget to
request a course!
Cheers!
