The website (http://web.mit.edu/apo/www/printing.shtml) currently only says
this:
APO provides limited printing services to the community at cost using
the machine in our office.
To request more information about printing, contact us at apo-printshop
_at_ mit.edu .
I'd like to update it to the text below. I'll put it up in a few days after
other people have had a chance to take a read-through and comment/correct
problems.
======================================================================
alan did most of the work on a better web sight a while back, you
might want to see if you can merge this with that, a copy is at
http://mit.edu/tower/www/PressShop/biba.med.tufts.edu/%257Ealan/Old/Press/
it needs some more work, and there are changes i would suggest
e.g. it the locker has the space, it be nice to include scans of
typical jobs, and the type catalogue

suggestions to your text:
APO provides limited printing services to the community using our
office's circa 1922 printing press. Press operators volunteer their
time at no cost, and the printing is done at cost.
1925 -> circa 1922
donate -> volunteer their time at no cost
Printing costs vary with each job. Basically, there is a setup fee and
a per-impression fee, in multiples of 100. The setup fee varies with
the complexity of the job, and the per-impression fee depends on the
type of paper used (you may either choose from our paper selection, or
provide your own).
Add?
We can order speciality papers at cost, but this postpones job completion.
Our press can print anything from business cards to envelopes to
invitations to letter-sized paper. Due to the large amount of
time involved in laying out and locking up text, the press is not
a good choice if you're looking for a low number of copies. The
high level of setup required for each job also means turnaround
time on a job is almost one month. Also, because each paper is
hand-fed into the press, and ink levels vary over the course of a
printing run, the press is bad choice for a job that requires
absolute uniformity across all printed sheets.
not a good -> bad
finished products -> printed sheets OR items printed ???
If your job is a good fit for our printing press (large number of
prints, smaller than letter-sized), contact us at apo-printshop _at_ mit
_dot_ edu to work out details with us. <b>Turnaround time is three
weeks from finalization of text and layout.</b>
jtu:
* we can print things up to 10x15 with some limitations
we can print somethings 20x15 in two passes
might say something like jobs larger then legal size paper and 10x13
(need to check what the max size is) envelopes migth be possible, ask
* the shop works best when a press op takes a job and negotiates with a
customer on schedule et al.
i suggest you be vague: jobs can take a month or more, depending on
the schedules of our volunteers. very rarely, they can be done in a
few days. the sooner you contact us, the sooner arrangements can be
made.
* the press is a good fit from single images to 2,000 or more
impressions, depending on who is available to take a job on
i've done some one copy jobs, i am very proud of
we all would be happy to look at another draft.
