hi kate,
* the shop used Central Engraving in Chelsea in the past. i tried all
three phone numbers i could dig up, and two were disconnected and
the third sounded like a home.
* http://members.aol.com/aapa96/lpress.html#engravers lists known
letterpress engravers. some have web sights and eddresses. the
nearest is in Holyoke, MA. i've just asked the LETPRESS list for
recommendations and will pass them on to you. i suspect at least
one of them could turn around your engraving by mid-January.
* both paper yellow pages have a number of companies listed under
several "Engravers" categories. you might phone them, and see if
they do engravings for letterpress printing including mounting on
wood blocks to be type high. would save the shipping both ways, and
probably much time.
* i left an engraving you could show around locally on the lockup
stone in the Shop in the back APOffice (the shop would like it
back!). Though if they don't know what you want on the phone, they
probably aren't worth dealing with
please let us know anything useful you find out. the APOster
Letterpress Shop really should have this info!
apologies for not being able to help you out sooner or do more to help
you out, but i travel to nyc 3 times, fl twice, and oh and nj once
each from 20 nov to 1 jan...
