Hi All,
As Benazeer pointed out, you can make printable blocks from the right
kind of wood. AX's Press Shop has at least one block craved out of
wood. A good woodworker store would have gouges and other carving
tools.
You can also make blocks out of linoleum mounted on a wood base, by
carving out the linoleum where you don't want it to print (kust as you
would do with a solid piece of wood). AX's Press Shop has many
linoleum blocks. There are also at least two blank linoleum blocks.
There may still be one linoleum gouge/cutter around. Pearl might
carry linoleum gouges/cutters/tools. And might have uncarved blocks
of the right height.
If you want them to print with type, or other blocks and cuts, they
have to be American Standard Type Height. If you are willing to run
them as a separate print run, they can vary in height by a fair amount
- roughly the thickness of the poster board AX use to silkscreen
posters onto.
Cuts are made out of metal. They are what I mentioned in the email
that started this discussion. There a number of techniques, mostly
using photo engraving to make them. And a number of screens that can
be used or not, e.g. halftone, or line. Printing anything but a
solid cut in the AX Press Shop is a challenge.
