Hi Len,
I think this all makes a lot of sense - the theoretical benefit to the
Chapter of having more people with the chapter skill far outweighs the
almost petty price we'd have them pay to print a few hundred business
cards or such. And I like the default of the typeface catalogue, because
while some people may easily come up with something to print for themselves,
I think we ought to be able to teach them without that as yet an additional
requirement on an already somewhat rigorous training process. On the other
hand, it may not be as obvious to a trainee that the typeface catalogue
job has some real benefit to anyone as a different pending job, and in
addition, there are very few jobs these days that aren't either training/qual
runs or the Reg Day job. Hopefully that will change in time, but because
of it, I'd suggest that we identify pending jobs (you mention Steak Fry
invites as an example) that would work well as training/qual runs, and I
would be biased towards them over the catalogue when they're available.
