Hi Journeymen and Shop Managers,

Does anyone object to changing the shop policy to allow no charge for
either press use fees or paper for several hundred impressions for
personal use as part of a training and qualifying run?

These runs benefit the Chapter and the Shop, and we don't charge for
jobs that directly benefit either.

I have not been happy with using pending jobs for these runs. They
either involve little typesetting, very complicated typesetting,
numbering, hard to print on paper, very long press runs, etc. That
is, they are either too complicated or too simple.

It's better for a novice to have to set and distribute a job that is
straightforward, on smooth paper stock.

I'm still willing to do a pending job, like Steak Fry invites, that
meet these criteria.

Otherwise, I am going to go back to using new pages in the APOster
Letterpress Typeface Catalogue for these runs.

But I also like to offer the opportunity to do a personal calling
card, etc. for these runs, using card stock we have in inventory, at
no charge to the trainee/qualifiee.

For now, I'm going to go ahead and do this. If we don't change the
shop policy, I'll donate the money to cover the press use fees and
card stock.
