Hi all,
1) Having heard no objection from officers or journeymen, I have moved
the solvents from the solvent cabinet into the tall green paint
cabinet in back.
Press solvents are on
- the bottom shelf to the left.
- the 2nd shelf from the top to the left.
Having this all in a single cabinet gives AX a net gain in health and
safety. It reduce the smell of solvent in the front APOffice. And
get all the flammables, including paint, in the APOffice into one
cabinet. A cabinet that faces the windows in an area that is not
frequented by people.
2) The short cabinet that the solvents were in is empty. I have left
the doors propped open so it will air out.
Before it is filled with other stuff, it should be throughly scrubbed
and washed with Spic-n-Span, Pine-Sol, or some-such such detergent.
Then rinsed, dried, then repeat: throughly scrubbed and washed, rinsed
a second time. It's the best way to get the smell out, and avoid it
saturating the contents of the cabinet.
It might be necessary to turn the cabinet upside down, and double
scrub/wash/rinse/dry the bottom. Solvent did drip down there.
There are some rust spots on the bottom shelves, and on the bottom of
the cabinet where it rests on the floor. Before the cabinet is
re-filled, ideally these would be steel-wooled, primed and finished
coated with Rustoleum(RegTM) or equivalent (see
http://www.rustoleum.com/ for tips).
3) THE METAL EDGES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CABINET ARE SHARP. BE CAREFUL
DOWN THERE.
4) It's been suggested that some of AX's Kitchen utensils be moved
into the empty short cabinet.
5) It might make sense to lower the top shelf in the empty short
cabinet.
