I believe the current policy on food money is the following:
for chapter weekends, participants will be charged:
$1 for breakfasts
$2 for lunches
$3 for dinners
If the chapter loses a substantial amount of money in this chapter
weekend because of people not showing up for the meals they signed up
for, at the discretion of the PC/food PC, people who signed up for
meals but weren't there to eat them can be charged for the meals anyway.
For other projects, the cost of lunch is usually split up among those
that attended, but if the cost becomes too expensive for the attendees
because of people who signed up not showing up for the project, at the
discretion of the PC/food PC, people who signed up but weren't there can
be charged for the meals anyway.
That's not the exact policy; I'm sure I've made some interpretive leaps.
But at the very least, that's close to what was meant when the policy was
drafted, and the actual policy, although may not have the rationales, is,
objectively, close to equivalent to it.
