Let me start off by thanking everyone who came to donate blood at our
drive in December. We collected more than 250 pints of blood. On
behalf of the Red Cross, thank you for saving lives.
The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at MIT from Tuesday, 2/13
through Friday, 2/16 in La Sala on the second floor of the Student
Center (W20). The drive will run from 1PM until 7PM on Tuesday and
Wednesday, and from 11:30AM until 5:30PM on Thursday and Friday. By
giving blood or by volunteering your time at the blood drive, you can
help save lives.
This is the point in the announcement where I'm supposed to say
something mushy about the drive overlapping with Valentine's Day,
causing you to immediately make an appointment. Unfortunately, I'm
terrible at this sort of thing, so you should just pretend that I did
and make an appointment right now anyway. :-)
The Red Cross relies on appointments to decide how many staff to
provide on a given day. Making appointments will decrease your wait,
and make the drive run faster as a whole (even if you can only tell us
what day you want to donate, and not what time during the day.) To

If you cannot make an appointment please feel free to come to the
drive and donate anyway.
We are hoping to have enough MIT people helping out during this drive
to get people registered quickly and take some of the pressure off of
the Red Cross workers. Even if you can't donate blood, you're welcome
to donate some of your time to the drive. Some of the services that
volunteers may perform are registering donors, staffing the canteen,
and providing moral support to the donors. All these efforts are
