This is an Alpha Chi Alumni Association announcement.
INTRODUCTION
City Year starts rolling.
Note the date has again changed for Beaver Day.
CALENDAR:
Thursday 8/18 *SERVICE* City Year
PC training for City Year will take place from 6:30-8:00 pm on a
Monday-Thursday at their center in Boston near the Children's Museum.
PCs are asked to attend on one of the following dates August 18,19,
23, 24 September 1, 2, 7, 14, 16. To sign up call city year at
451-0699. Say you want to sign up for Project Coordinator Training or
ask for Steve Brewel. If they ask for an affiliation you can give
AXAA or your company if they are involved. We will not be
representing ourselves as a cohesive group. We did not have enough
people for an MIT training session. If these dates or the location is
a major problem give me a call (617)648-4014 and I'll help you work
something out with City Year. This will be the last announcement
about PCing on this list. I will make a new City Year list of
everyone who has expressed interest and let people know when others
are going to training so we can go together.

First-Tuesday-Of-Every-Odd-Numbered-Month Blood-Drive-&-Dinner-Trip
Those donating should arrive 6-6:45 pm at the Burlington Bloodmobile
site near the Burlington Mall. Contact Ellen at ekranzer@harvard.edu
or ccrazy@athena.mit.edu for directions and so she can tell the Red
Cross how many people to expect and arrange transportation for those
without cars. People are welcome to come for dinner only, please
arrive at the Burlington Bloodmobile site by 7 pm. If you aren't in
the Boston area, you are encouraged to also give blood on this date
and write Ellen about it. If there are a number of brothers in your
area, think about organizing a FTOEONMBD&DT in your area. If you are
eligible to donate blood and the FTOEONM schedule isn't good for you,
please stop by your local Red Cross or hospital donor center when it
is convenient for you.
Sunday 9/5 *SOCIAL* AXAA Tanglewood Jazz Trip

Massachusetts, near the NY border, about 2.5 hrs drive) for the Jazz
concert by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra on the evening of September
5th (Sunday of Labor Day weekend). The grounds open at 4pm, the concert
starts at 7:30pm. Picnicking is encouraged. Lawn tickets are $13/person.

Alumni are invited to help out with Reg Day. Call the office
(253-3788) for more information or just show up.
Thursday 9/30 *SERVICE* AXAA Alumni Big Uncles
Sorry if the last message was confusing. The dinners will not happen
on this date. This is the date I decide whether or not to go ahead
with this program for the fall term. Currently we have 6 households.
I am looking for at least 10 households. If you missed the explanation
of this program or need any more information contact Caroline Roos
at Cline17@aol.com or 648-4014.
Saturday 10/2 *SERVICE* AXAA Beaver Day
Yes its BEAVER DAY at the YMCA! Jonah, the YMCA contact person, said
we had done such a great job last year with 15 people attending that I
just couldn't refuse. The project will run 10:30 to 2:00 with lunch
provided at 2:00. Directions will be available later. It would be
polite to RSVP for this so they will know how much lunch to cook, but
I think a few drop-ins would be ok. This project could benefit for
the care of a loving PC. To volunteer or RSVP call me at
(617)648-4014 or Cline17@aol.com.
Saturday 10/23 *SERVICE* City Year Servathon.
It actually happens this date.
Saturday-Sunday 11/20-1 *SERVICE* ESP - Splash
Splash is a weekend event held by the Educational Studies Program at
MIT. Volunteers are needed to teach 7th - 12th graders just about
anything you would like to teach them. Classes can range from 1 to 12
hours in length and subjects range from tap dancing, to nuclear
technology, to the history of religion. But preparation is the key to
a good course so plan ahead and contact Dale Worley at
drw@math.mit.edu or (617)899-7947 or ESP at edsp@athena.mit.edu or
(617)253-4882.
