Minutes of ExecComm, September 13, 2000

Administrative notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start: 8:15 pm; End: 9:07 pm Present: Laura, Jake, Ellen, Katherine,
Ray, Merry, Lokie, Carolyn, Ian, Dave Leung
Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Sam): Susama is a Goddess. We're helping with the Boston
       AIDS ride tomorrow night. This Saturday we're working at the
       National Braille Press. Next weekend we're working at the food
       bank. The weekend after that is Chapter Weekend I. You should
       sign up for these things. Also, last term, Project Linus never
       happened. It would be cool if we could make it happen. We
       also need a UMOC PC.

Ray: Dave and I can do it.

MVP (Ann Marie): We have pledges, and the mailing lists are fixed
       now. We'll have another pledge ceremony at Steak Fry.

FVP (Joe): We have PCs for Steak Fry and Couch Destruction.

Treasurer (Oscar): Active membership dues are due next Wednesday.
       The dues are $20 for both brothers and pledges. Debt list info
       will go out soon.

AC (Ian): Minutes will be sent out eventually. Really. We have a
       room for chapter meetings.

APOcEd (Nitin): not present

OM (Ray): We have an office. It's a fucking mess. BookEx books
       should go wherever they're going.

PubDir (Katherine): We have paint. I want to change some of the
       drop poster sales procedure.

Historian (Celine): not present

Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): We need a CPPC. We haven't had
       a good one in a while and should really plan the chapter's direc-
       tion. The MVP's been tending to work in isolation recently _
       our communications machanism could stand to be restructured.

Carolyn: We could put apo-exec on apo-prospectives.

Laura: Any objections?

President (Carolyn): We have a busy next 2 weeks. Wow.

Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
None.
Old Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
None.

New Business:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
CokeComm:
~~~~~~~~
Treasurer (Oscar): We lost about $200 for each term for the past 2
       terms on COke. This is a Bad ThingTM . Emily thinks people
       may be lame about ticking off.

Ellen: Also petty theft (by PhysPlant) may account for some of the
       loss.

Treasurer (Oscar): We're more or less within budget here, at least.
       We need Emily to actually explain the subtleties of the Coke
       finances, but a price increase seems likely.

Laura: I think Emily has IFC conflicts with Wednesday meetings.

Carolyn: Maybe CokeComm should be an actual committee, which
       could evaluate Emily's findings and address problems.

Advisors:
~~~~~~~~
President (Carolyn):  Lizzy talked to Michelle, whose last name I
       don't know, coordinator of Women's Studies.  She seems cool
       but we haven't properly approached her yet.
Advisory Comm.  Chair (Ellen): The entire chapter needs to ap-
       prove her and reapprove the current advisors.
President (Carolyn):  We should invite her to some event so the
       chapter can actually meet her.
Nationals:
~~~~~~~~~
Carolyn: Nationals are from December 27-30 in Philadelphia. If peo-
       ple are interested they should make it known.

Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): Carpool. Parking is expensive.

Carolyn: Legislation is due at the end of the month. We've proposed
       legislation in the past rewriting the section of the pledge cere-
       mony about the pledge pin being the property of the chapter.
       I'd like to write up something for next week's chapter meeting
       to submit for people's approval.

Drop Posters:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
PubDir (Katherine):  We've been, until now, taking money after
       people return paints. There's no reason we can't collect money
       first and apply any fines after paints are returned.  It'd also
       be nice if we had an advance notice policy of some sort, so we
       have a spelled-out response for when people make unreasonable
       requests, especially during rush. Also, some people really need
       to learn how to fill out drop poster sheets correctly.
Silkscreen:
~~~~~~~~~~
Meredith: A lot of people have half-clue, but nobody really has a full
       clue.

Dave Leung: We should do a proof-of-concept first; something simple
       like a one-color poster.

Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carolyn: Press stuff is happening.
Ellen: I'll be out of town on and off for about a month.
Ian: Pay dues and debts.
Katherine: Sign up for office hours.
PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Carolyn: Davidmac should learn when not to squirt a squirtgun.

Meredith: I was wet, but I'm dry now.

Lokie: Mischief can happen without me.

Ian: I like points and George Seurat.
