Officers' reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SVP (Sam): The project this past weekend tanked. We found out
at the last minute from the BU people that it's two-and-a-half
hours away. There weren't enough people going. Next weekend
will be project SCORE--e-mail Jen Shieh [jcshieh] if you'd like
to go. [Jen: we got some MIT professors to be the speakers, and
it should prove very interesting.] It's a day of food, fun, and
service in Cambridge.
The weekend after next used to be Chapter Weekend II. We
couldn't find a space for it, so we're going to have Chapter Day.
It starts with a service project in the morning (perhaps paint-
ing in Somerville), followed by an afternoon of chapter skills--
silkscreening, tools, and printing. That evening will be a night
of fellowship, possibly bowling.
After Project SCORE, Project Linus will start. We're making
blankets for people with [leukemia]. Stephanie will e-mail the
details. The project is slated to last the entire week.
MVP (Ann Marie): I pushed back everything, so Initiation is on May
12 before I-Banquet. Pledge interviews start April 22 and end
May 6. The day after, May 7, is Pledge Class Review (PCR).
The issue here is that pledges cannot run for senior offices, but
can still be junior officers [Historian, Office Manager, and Pub-
licity Director]. It gives people more time for projects.
FVP (Joe): We had Steak Fry. It didn't suck. No one died. I'll
figure out some fellowship stuff. The fellowship for Chapter
Day depends on who's there. Thor had a movie night. Krista's
arboretum trip is May 6, 7, or 8, depending on when PCR ends
up being. A bunch of study breaks are happening finals week,
except two have not been taken. There are lots of events on the
Random Acts of Fellowship Board. If you have any ideas, e-mail
me.
Treasurer (Oscar): not present
AC (Ian): If you have an event coming up that's not in the WUAPO,
tell me. If you need a room reserved, tell me as soon as possible.
APOcEd (Nitin): not present, channelled by Carolyn: write articles.
Really. I mean it.
OM (David): When Ian got to the office earlier, the lights were on,
the door was open, and no one was there. This is bad. Peo-
ple should turn the lights off and close the door. When I got
there, it was still a [present participial expletive deleted] mess.
Please clean up after yourselves. There are two boxes on the
refrigerators: The one on top of the Coke fridge is for bottles
with Massachusetts deposits, and the other is for those without.
Hopefully the recycling chair will take the stuff away.
PubDir (Lokie): We're selling posters. It's working out. Don't let
people steal stuff.
Historian (Jake): I've done nothing worthwhile. I will get the Histo-
rian Roll done before I leave my office. The genealogy stuff is a
mess; if you know of some good genealogy software, please tell
me.
Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): not present at the time of report,
channelled by Emily: Hi
President (Carolyn): We have a chapter. I got lazy, but I sent in all
the forms, so my pledge class can become brothers.
Committee reports:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Conclave (Emily): We had a meeting. We'll have a meeting after
this.
Rules (Ari): We had the PB&J meeting [for the pledges to learn
about the rules of order].
Big Screw (Davidmac): We met Tuesday. The awards ceremony will
be this Friday at 11 am on the fifth floor of the Student Center.
We're still not telling you who he/she is, but the winner will not
be there--instead his/her representative will receive the award.
Fellowship Militia (Foley): I forgot to bring the forms to the meet-
ing, but I'll send in T-shirt and knife orders. They'll be here
after the meeting. At this point, there are events scheduled,
and we just need PC's. I have a list of do's and don'ts for next
term's FVP, as well as a system (structure) for the list of al-
lergies. If you're interested in becoming FVP, I'll hand it to
you.
Book Ex (Emily): I got money from ExecComm a few weeks ago.
We're advertising for people to drop off their books during finals
week and arranging storage for these books during the summer
until they get sold at the fall Book Ex. Seniors often don't want
their books back, so we might be able to get some of them [for
charity?]. I need a publicity and manpower sub-PC; talk to me,
it shouldn't be all that hosing.
Coke (Emily): There will be no more stuff bought before the end of
term. If you did not initial your request on the sheet, it will be
ignored.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[The following are the nominations in alphabetical order:]
Eliza Dubroff
Andrew Eisenmann
FF Fridge
Alan Meisler
Sara Pickett
Oscar Rodriquez
Michael Spitznagel
Ari Wilkenfeld
President (Carolyn): Within twenty-four hours, the balloting system
will be set up on the president's desk, along with a copy of the
standing policies. Voting lasts for seven days. People who were
here for the discussion are eligible to vote. If you weren't here
for someone's discussion, write down that you were not here. I
will send out e-mail.
Announcements:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ari: The group photos are finally out. You will be debt listed for the
photo you receive. Let me know if you want one but didn't sign
up; I can make more copies.
Conclave (Emily): There's a meeting after this.
Advisory Comm. Chair (Ellen): CPW's are this summer. The
preliminary deadline for registration is May 1, after which there
is no guarantee for a spot or that the CPW you registered for
will still exist. The one in Connecticut from June 16 to the
18th is the closest one to here. I have blurbs about it. CPW is
designed for those who want to be or will be officers.
July 14 is the 75th anniversary Easton event at LaFayette Col-
lege in Pennsylvania. The registration materials are out. See
me or Carolyn.
Book Ex (Emily): I had two printers from Book Ex, and now there's
only one in the office. Please tell me where it went. [Alan: one
of them is underneath a table]
PFTGOTO:
~~~~~~~
Sara B.: I can pass as a high school student. People at Northwestern
thought I was a prefrosh.
Aaron: 1) Don't talk to me about voting systems right now. 2) On
Saturday, Edward Gorey died.
[AC: Edward Gorey was the illustrator of The Gashlycrumb Tinies.
(Let A = {26 children's names, each starting with a different letter of
the alphabet}, and B = {26 morbid modes of death}. Then for each
y in A, we have "x is for y who D(y)," where x = the first letter of y
and D : A --> B.)]
Yevgeniya: Ari spelled my name right [on the composite photo].
Emily: Finding a job bites. When I found one, they wanted me to
deal with 20,000 lines of undocumented C code.
Ari: It sucks when you base your thesis on a the results from a pro-
fessional lab, but they end up not knowing how to use software
and gave you wrong data.
Ellen: It sucks to do five days of work in two days.
Sam: The pandemonium from figuring out taxes was amusing.
Krista: This summer, I'll be in L.A. Wish me luck.
Laura: Is it just me, or does Project SCORE sound like....
Foley: After 120-hour work weeks, 30-hour work weeks are really easy.
