Shoot, I forgot some stuff.
PC an effort to renovate the bells in the Kendall T station. This sounds
like a totally awesome thing to do, some other MIT students are getting on
board with it, and the MBTA welcomes it. Claim it as a project to
coordinate, and/or blanche yourself onto kendall-band@mit.edu.
Collect Boxtops for Education in your dorm. Remember when you were a little
kid and cut out those boxtops for your school? Well, if we (pseudo)
grown-ups collect boxtops and send them off, we make a super-easy
contribution to schools too. Please set up a collection box or something in
your kitchens. If you don't want to deal with mailing batches yourself,
that's cool, drop them off in my SVP mailbox (for now) and I'll deal with
it.
As per email discussion, Alioth and Catherio et al are arranging to show
some 5th graders an MIT class.
Next chapter meeting is going to be extra-awesome. Not only are Anna and I
making food, but we will have 2 guests: Ben Bradley will be pitching MIT's
Service Learning program. He's looking for thoughts on incorporating
service into project-based classes. Bring your thoughts! Grem, an APO
alum, will be pitching Bootstrap, a program that teaches disadvantaged kids
how to make video games in Scheme. http://www.bootstrapworld.org/
