***
SVP
***
Splash needs help this Saturday, especially with morning registration.
UMOC is coming up.
If you'd like to PC something, talk to the SVP.

***
PVP
***
pledges are doing well...most are well on their way to the requirements.
we need a few more projects, but with UMOC, the sash making, finals
coffeehouse/cookies, & book exchange we should be ok.

dec 5 will be PCR/PTR...i need a pc...all you do is provide the
food...you know you wanna!

***
BVP
***
Needs help carrying food from EC. People should go back and help carry
things now.

Printshopped invitations to I-Banquet were mailed on Wednesday (11/12).
*******We still need an I-banquet PC.*******

jenhope and k_french threw an awesome SFF on Saturday (11/15).

Food at today's chapter meeting is courtesy of SFF and Liz!
Food in the office is brought by kkuhn (as always ... including homemade
cookies!)
Let me know if you want to cook at the next chapter meeting.

Next week -- dump cake study break (kkuhn), Friday at 8.

***
Treasurer
***
The incorrect charges on the reserve account have been correctly reversed.

If people want me to reimburse them for Nationals expenses I need an
invoice of some sort. Apparently the Nationals system is pretty bad at
providing easily accessible invoices, though. I'll see if I can figure
out a way around that.

People should have started getting notifications about reimbursement
checks. If you haven't gotten one and you think you should have (e.g.
you submitted an RFP a while ago), feel free to send me an email.

***
AC
***
We should have the nifty outgoing mail cards now or soon. I sent email
to the right people a couple days ago, and got mail back confirming
they'd be sent. I haven't had time to check the mail since then, but
they're probably here now, or soon.

***
APOcEd
***
There are APOcs!

***
PubDir
***
:) Pubdir tried to do things, like help slehmann get an ad in the tech
for UMOC, make slides for the infinite, and put up a list of pledges on
our bulletin board in the infinite. Looks forward to having an ad for
UMOC there as well.

***
President
***
AAMD paperwork was sent in
I got a thank you from the president of the WPUNJ chapter for our
gracious hospitality
They also saw our office and enjoyed SFF and think we're really cool
and are likely to visit sometime
I am appointing nteague to be assistant to the treasurer

***
OM
***
Marching band went over yesterday, so I didn't have time to do stuff in
the office yesterday before SFF. So I did it today before the chapter
meeting! I was talking to Liz! about moving the comic books to the
bookshelf that's been used by BookEx and then leaving empty boxes for
bookex to use on the shelves where the comic books were. I've
emailed/asked Jasmine if she wants to organize the comic books, since
she's expressed interest in this in the past. I've also taken pictures
of the stuff in the first half of the office. In the next week, I'll
work on printing those out and getting them on there with short
descriptions as well.

Committee Reports:

***
Nationals
***
There will be a meeting as we get closer to Nationals to discuss the
legislation, and to prepare us, so we know what to expect.

Sopie and Liz%20 will be representing us there, and Sophie will also be
on the Marketing Committee.

***
BookEx
***
BookEx needs subPCs!
Thanks x10^6 to amberh for being Finals Dropoff PC!

Remaining unfilled subPC positions are:
* Web god: maintain our database and the website that goes with it,
http://apo.mit.edu/bookex/ . Some programming experience a good idea.
ianyh or others will teach.
<jenhope and slehmann are interested>
* Publicity: make posters, distribute fliers, spam dorms, etc
<kkuhn and swanberg are interested>
* Beginning-of-next-term dropoff: run dropoff the last week of IAP
<amberh is interested>
* Manpower & food: make chmrr sites, poke people to sign up for hours,
bring food to maintain brothers' will to live and candy to appease
customers
<jasminef, ederegt, kkuhn, amberh are interested>
* Apprentice to overall PC: assist overall PC and learn how to run
BookEx next year
<catthu is interested>
* Aftermath: get the books out of the office and donated to Better World
Books
<nteague is interested. kkuhn waves her hand>

(web god only has to be an apprentice web god, since ianyh is willing to
continue doing it, if he can teach and phase himself out.)

Other Stuff:

UMOC!!
There are 3 candidates, so far. People should work the booth if they
can. There need to be people with safe access to close up every night.
If you can help set up the Dexion tonight at 10, you should try to help,
or learn how to set it up.
mitchb arranged for us to borrow a wireless techcash reader for UMOC. He
has it plugged in in this room right now, and if there is any chance you
will be using the machine or manning the booth, you should stay after
the meeting, to learn to use it. If you are manning the booth, you
should make sure the people after you know how to use it before leaving.
If you don't know how to use it, *learn*. We are not being charged to
use this machine, but if you break it or get it stolen, we have to pay
$3000 to have it replaced. *Don't mess it up*.

Sequentially, now is when our Sectional Chair talked to us about the
National Fraternity. But it's long, so it's going at the end.

Discussion about the Elections meeting. The elections should be Sunday
November 30th, since the following Sunday is I-Banquet. That's also
Thanksgiving weekend, so brothers might not be back in time for the
meeting. Moving it a few

*austein moves to change the next chapter meeting to Sunday November,
23rd, at which point elections will happen.
Seconded.
*Motion passes

PCR/PTR needs to be scheduled some time that is at least 48 hours ahead
of I-Banquet. Taking suggestions for times. Thursday the 4th? Some
people are busy at 7 til late, others are busy at 5, lots of people
probably have class at 4. Sports run from 5-7. If we make it at 6,
people who have to leave early will have an hour of PCR to talk/learn
about pledges, and people who get in late will have time to learn/talk
about pledges.

*austein moves to make PCR/PTR at 6 pm on Thursday December 4th.
Seconded
*Motion passes.

epower: We need to make a video!!
We get to make a video for Rollcall at Nationals.
jasminef: We should get everyone to do the Algorithm March!!!
austein assigns jasminef and ianyh to train a 1337 squad of ninjas to do
the algorithm march, and get it on video.

Only two people participated in the macaroni-sculpture contest. One of
them was the one organizing the event, and the other is the Sectional
Chair. austein decides Katie's is better. Katie wants Reese's cups.

Announcements:
Splash is this Saturday, and still needs a PC.

You should all consider running for a position at next week's elections.

PFTGOTO:
Tetazoo is having a party Saturday or Friday night next week. You should
all come, if you're into that sort of thing.
All the mail kdrinkwa sent today went to mitchb's spamfilter.

meeting adjourned at 1936 by a standing vote.

Katie talks to us about the National Fraternity!
There are 4 schools in the Section, and Katie is our section chair. The
near sections make up our region, who also have a chair.

     Chapters

The students make all the legislation. Legislation must be submitted 90
days before the convention. It goes to the National Office, and then
gets voted on at convention, by representatives from all the chapters.
There are also officers to be elected.
11 Region Directors, a President, VP, and 6 Program Directors. When you
elect a program director, you don't elect them for a specific program,
just to direct one, then the prez decides which they are appointed to.
Current Programs are: Marketing, Service & Communication, Scouting &
Youth Services, Alumni yada-yada, Finance, and Membership & Extension.
The Board of Directors make sure that everything decided on at
convention gets carried through. When we go to Convention (registration
is currently at ~1700 people),
We have a big congress style thing, following Robert's Rules of Order.
We are Sargent at Arms this year, which means we keep order, and run
stuff around on the floor and stuff.
If we want something changed, first we submit legislation, and explain
why we believe this should be changed. It gets submitted to the
legislative floor, and it gets voted on if it passes by the reference
committee.
All Chapters are different. We have our own unique traditions that no
other chapters have, and we have different pledge/brotherhood
requirements, and different What we all have in common is our ritual
work and our purpose.
Katie's job is to make sure we do our job. She ensures we get everything
in, so we can be a chapter in good standing, so we can apply for awards.
We should get the Chapter of Excellence Award every other year (as
eligible), but we don't always get our checklist checked off, even
though we always get the things on the list done. We really should do this.
Katie gets elected every spring (Conference at UConn in March).
If Katie's not doing her job, you talk to the Regional Director, Mims
(Marilyn Mims Dow).
Mims is in charge of Region 1, in the Northeast, from Maine to New
Jersey, containing sections 94, 96, 97, and 99. We are in Section 96.
The regions go from 1 here, west up to 11. "APO goes to 11"
Regional Director is elected every 2 years at Nationals.
If you need help with anything, or want to learn anything, we can
contact her.
Usually, the Sectional Chair would be around and check in more often
with the chapter, except that Katie is 3 hours away in Connecticut, so
Joni checks in on us for her.
