and by 9AM I mean 6AM as I initially thought before going to the website
where it said oval and we want the middle of the Esplanade.

We typically go to the middle of the esplanade, rather than the oval. The
oval's for seeing the concert, and trees block the view of the fireworks.
We also start around 6 AM instead.
