Hi all,
We have the following new PCs:
Holiday Decorations: hopp
Finals Coffeehouse: epower
There are just a few more service PCships this term! Sign up before
they're all gone! :-)
Solutions at Work
Friday the 30th (or Saturday the 1st), timing based on YOUR responses!
If you PC it, it happens at a time that works for you.
Solutions at Work is a Cambridge organization that gives homeless
people the resources to get themselves off the streets. They're a
pretty cool organization because they are mostly staffed and run by
formerly homeless (and occasionally still homeless) people, so they
really know what is helpful. We'll be helping them with their annual
mailing.
Finals Cookie-Baking:
Monday the 10th (can be moved based on your schedule)
We bake cookies for the poor souls who are stuck tooling in the
clusters the last week of classes. Organize the baking and the
distribution. See why we are known among late-night toolers as "the
cookie angels". This one is a longstanding APO tradition.
Email me if you are available to PC either of these projects.

Duties of a Service Project PC:
1-2 weeks before project:
Visit the website of the organziation and/or read any material the SVP
may have sent you to determine any additional details you need to know
(proper attire, etc.)
1-2 weeks before project:
Get people to sign up for the project (may include sending angry
emails and/or talking to people individually)
Two days before the project:
If the number of people who have volunteered is significantly off from
the number I estimated to the organization, call the organization and
ask if the new number of volunteers is ok. Depending on what they say
you may have to apologetically cancel the project, or cap the number of
your volunteers.
The day of the project:
Lead the group to the project on time (you may offer to give wake-up
calls if you feel so inclined)
Within 2 days after the project:
Send both me and the ApocEd an article that contains, at minimum, the
name of the place you went and a list of all the list of people who went
on the project. (Preferably you would also say a few words about what
you did and how it went.)
