==================================
Minutes from APO chapter meeting of 3/21/2007
==================================

Proposal to re-enact the minutes:
"Can we do that in events sometimes?"
"We should totally enact the minutes for the tigger hunt sometime!"

_SVP REPORT_

Last weekend:
- I HATE ALL OF YOU!!!!
- only three people went on Sunday, and no brothers went!

This weekend:
- blue painting of doors this weekend
- we got downgraded from purple to blue because we promised 30 and only
had 15
- more people, please go!

Weekend after:
- People Making a Difference
- we will setting up tables inst. of them hiring a catering company
- you will get pizza and catered desserts

Later:
- Sarah comes back from Spring Break
- scramble to put together Big Screw
- Then, Big Screw!
- Milo is doing publicity for Big Screw
- Sukrit & purple hair are poking profs
- dale is manpower
- there are 3 blacklists, all the same, and none of them complete
- after Big Screw, next thing is not until earth day: awesome clean up
project of the Charles

Also:
- CPR thing is coming up; ridiculously cheap!!!!
- they will teach Red Cross certified CPR, first aid, & AED
- the rules have significantly changed, so be sure to go
- if you already know CPR, you can volunteer to help

suggestion: we will re-enact minutes during the intermission...

_FVP REPORT_ (zev)

semi-formal formal (April 20):
- dress up in different ways
- ren-fair theme: medival clothing or tourist or dragon or thing or
"traveller from the future" (i.e. just come!)
- real food and tables and possibly music and goblets and dramatic
reading of the old minutes

fellowship event to scientology:
- we were going to go as a group to one of the brainwashing sessions
- "It's free, but you have to empty your wallet first."

_MVP REPORT_ (droshan)

- pledges got pledge manuals (CopyTech is way too expensive!)

Big Screw:
- dale is manpower (it's just hanging out at the booth, and brothers
will come randomly and sit and chat)
- Amy (ahailes) and Sukrit are doing candidates
- Jessee and Kristen are publicity (riv and Milo are helping)
- Devon is head PC
- brothers who are able to help should give info to the pledges when
necessary

800-pound couch:
- when will we get rid of the couch?
- when Vlad runs the tool safety seminar
- can we put it into the trash cage?
- we have to do it when Vlad says we can do it, probably after spring break

_HISTORIAN_ (austein)

- discussion of how giving out personal addresses is not good
since we want mail to always come to APO, even years from now

_PUBLICITY DIRECTOR_ (riv)

silk screening:
- instructions will be updated
- silk screening will be shiny and exciting
- will be the week after spring break

_APOC ED_ (kkbrown)

- you all should write articles!
- wanted to get it out this friday, but it's not likely to happen
- kkbrown will be coming back late tuesday night, and is hoping for
articles in her emailbox
- Prez's comment: "You may need to use force."

_TREASURER_
(not here)

_A/C_

- wow! we don't have one!
- responsibilities: take notes, reserve rooms, email reminders
- Sarah: "Be the A/C! I'll... [takes the doughnuts away] give you a
doughnut."
[discussion about whether A/C would have to personally take minutes]

_ADV. COMM. CHAIR_
(ellen's not here; she has a cold)

_PRESIDENT_

Recycling:
- was going to talk to CAC about recycling, but now they're closed

Conclave @ MIT:
- catering ideas:
  - estimated price of $18-22/person for the banquet
  - SLP has it reserved for that time, but they will probably not use it
then, so they will turn the reservation over to us
- housing ideas:
  - Burton-Conner: a brother lives there, but won't be there next year,
so talking with other people who live there
  - 3rd Fl. of Walker (one group respons. during exams, CAC during
not-exams)
  - Next House
  - Baker (w/ brother & showers)
  - hotels: next Conclave is charging $109/person for hotels
  - really hate to do that here, but at least there is precendent
- showering: might not have easy access to showers, so looking into
using the athletic facility for showers
- talking with ath. center to get a deal
- won't be the first time where we have to walk across campus for access
to showers; brothers won't be shocked by it
- have a set of dates ready for the next conclave so the various
chapters can discuss what's best for everyone
- wherever we are, we need a place to put our stuff
- we can look into using W20-491 for storing sleeping back
- it may be easier to have SLP book it because they may have an easier
time since SLP carries a lot more wait
- need security officers at $30/hour for banquet & dance

<kkbrown looks down after someone sneaks out>
"Oh, that looks important!"
<runs down the hall>
"You forgot your wallet!"

New mailboxes:
- impression is that the new boxes are for groups that don't have a box
- "Certainly didn't get the impression that they will sort the mail any
faster then they have been."

CPW:
- activities should be registered... now.
- we should definitely do the Midway, but the fair should only be if we
have something that we want to do for it
- "We should not plug in our power tools at the Midway booth."
- we don't need electricity or tables
- we want to be near the other twinkie groups

Suggestions for $20k money offer from CAC for improving W20 student
group offices
- new curtains
- heaters
- looking for suggestions that will benefit a lot of the groups around

Next Conclave:
- during CPW
- up to 2 voting delegates
- last time, day trip up to vermont and back was not so fun
- need to elect voting delegates at some point before the conclave
- probably during the one chapter meeting between now and conclave
- account should be positive by then
- need report on the section account
- prez is not yet a signatory on the acct, but will happen over spring break
- if anyone wanted to go for the entire weekend (topics: how to be a
better officer, general APO info, etc.), the costs are $35/brother +
hotel costs ($109/night/person)
- starts late Friday night & business meeting on saturday
- will be electing new section chair; old one (TJ) will not be re-runing
- no one known to be running yet

Approval of outside service:
- Michael (sliang87) is going to build houses in New Orleans w/ Intervarsity
- he must bring back pictures and a short article about it

CPR:
- "Do CPR, guys."
- APO will cover the $5 if you are in "financial hardship"

Business to discuss:
- "100% of the 1 reponses that I got, approved of it."
- National lay-away ($300/term) gets used to help people going to Nationals
- budget was proposed and approved to decide how the money will be used
- during the last Nationals, reality happened and money was used
differently than the budget
- proposal to adjust prev. approved budget to match what actually
happened was approved

_ANNOUNCEMENTS_

- SERVICE ON SATURDAY!
- tomorrow evening, 8pm Blades of Glory sneak (free shots of tea)
