and after some discussion it turns out we can distribute the libraries
domestically under the binary contrib area (I thought there was some
other issue, but it was just "young code" that initially held him back

There's certainly no great hurry on our end... The only way it would
have been an issue for us would have been if the answer was a definite
"Not possible".
Since we need to do local customization, the availability of libraries
is important to us; it make it _possible_ for us to choose NetBSD for
our PC-unix. (there's still no final decision on that front yet, but
hopefully there will be a decision soon.)
So thanks for your willingness to make them available!
