Problem we might need to figure out before we release

So, to help testing and stuff, I've been using the os-1.3
X11 stuff (on a hand-upgraded to 1.3 using our Athena files).

Recently, I discovered that netscape-4.0 (the outland one)
has been Bus faulting on me. I tried to use ktrace to figure out
what was going on, and failed. It appears that fd 6 was being
used to read and write upon... only nothing had it open. It used
to be ~/.netscape/preferences.js, but that file was then
closed. the data that was being read and written seems to
be related to communications with the X server, but it's just a guess.

Getting rid of the preferences file seems to stop it from
dying (except that it's a required file for holding info, and is
created every time you run the program).

I really have no clue why this dies, but it seems that making
/usr/X11R6 point back to the NetBSD-Athena1.2 version of X fixes
everything.

So.... this may be motif related, or XKeySymDB related, or
related to the upcoming millenium... or the phase of the moon.
However, this is something we should at least understand before unleashing
the OS on unsuspecting folks.

Any ktrace genius out there know what is going on?
