There isn't a set of source examples that I know of, that is a good
idea however. If the comp.lang.java (or whatever its name) newsgroup
discussion does in fact result in a newsgroup then the archive sites
would be a great place for this.
As for a standard library, there are "standard" class files that are
supplied with the release and I expect these to get richer over time.
I don't know of any effort to create a 1:1 equivalent to libc for
example.
If you've downloaded the release for "HotJava" you have the compiler
and everything you need in ../bin it is called javac.
