I just started using java a few days ago and experienced the same problems
trying to compile the embedded app example which has interdependent classes.
I've had no problems with other simpler examples so I'm guessing that I've
got the CLASSPATH variable setup ok.....a readme file could have saved a lot
of time looking through all the examples and experimenting with paths and
variables!
Since I don't have a sun machine to compile on I'm stuck with the NT box!
