We've successfully developed Java apps on Sun
machines and we're about to augment our development effort by
concurrently developing on NT machines; however, we're encountering some
rather silly problems. Is anyone having problems with CLASSPATH
and/or any other environment variable settings on NT? With interdependent
classes A and B in separate files in \hotjava\ we can't compile A or
B without problems like "Can't find A in new..." We know/assume that these
problems are caused by the compiler not being able to see the class files
and we've screwed with the CLASSPATH var but to no avail.
Are we missing a no brainer? Is this already explained somewhere in the
docs? Is there a NT README file?
When do we get to see the new AWT API? How is the Mac port going (who's
doing it?)?
Praise...
I don't really care about the first question because I work on a Sun and
recently verified that "compiled" Java code works cross platform without
recompilation. In principle this is a great thing, but seeing it in person
gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling worthy of sharing. Great job guys.
Thanks,
fwood
