Hmmm,
I am not sure that I have understood your question correctly. I am assuming you
mean how do you use regexp for "string" comparison/validation within Java. The
answer to this as far as I am aware is you don't! Last time I looked, which
admittedly was a couple of months ago (i.e. before v1.0) there were no regexp
methods on any of the string objects. This means that if you really need them
you would need to right a regexp class library, probably best implemented as an
interface. There are many regexp libraries in C around if you need to get hold
of source code as a basis.
In summary the Java language has no builtin regexp support (that I know of)
furthermore none of the standard classes support regexp. I'm afraid for
something like you date validation routine you'll have to resort to good old
fashioned programming!
